Care Instructions
Wash cotton flannel shirts in cold or cool water on a gentle cycle using a mild detergent to prevent shrinking, fading, and pilling.
Washing Instructions
- Turn inside out: Flip the shirt before washing to protect the outer brushed fibers from friction and pilling.
- Use cold water: Wash and rinse in cold or cool water to prevent the cotton fibers from shrinking or fading. Avoid hot water.
- Select a gentle cycle: Choose a low-agitation or gentle machine cycle to reduce stress on the fabric.
- Choose a mild detergent: Use a gentle, mild liquid detergent. Never use bleach, harsh chemicals, or heavy-duty industrial cleaners.
- Skip liquid fabric softener: Standard liquid softeners and dryer sheets leave a waxy coating that clogs the cotton fibers, making the flannel stiff and less soft over time. Instead, add half a cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle as a natural softener.
- Wash with similar colors: Wash dark colors separately during the first few washes to prevent bleeding.
Drying Instructions
- Air dry: Line drying or laying the shirt flat on a clean towel is the safest method to prevent shrinkage and keep the fabric soft.
- Tumble dry low: If you must use a machine, tumble dry on the lowest heat setting. Remove the shirt while it is still slightly damp to avoid over-drying and shrinking.
